Schisandra Beet Adrenal-Supporting Smoothie

Adaptogens are unique herbs used to improve the body’s ability to cope with physical, mental and emotional stressors. They support the health of your adrenal system, which is responsible for managing your body’s hormonal response to stress. Adaptogens can calm you down and boost your energy at the same time without overstimulating.

They work somewhat like a thermostat for the body. When the thermostat senses the room temperature is too high, it brings it down; when the temperature is too low, it brings it up.

Schisandra berry and beets also support liver detoxification, which supports healthy waste elimination. If you're into liver care, check out these other detox tips.

More of Schisandra’s health benefits include:

  • Supports memory recall, focus and concentration
  • Excellent liver detoxifier
  • Helps maintain normal moisture content of the skin and overall skin health
  • Enhances athletic performance via tolerance, stamina and endurance
  • Supports normal recovery time after strenuous exercise

Adding fat, such as ghee, ensures all the fat-soluble vitamins and nutrients are able to be transported and absorbed.

Blend until smooth. Pour into one large cup or two small cups to share.

Note: If you don’t have a high-powered blender, steaming the beets will help maintain a smooth texture.

Enjoy!
