Live Superfoods Amla Berry Powder
Amla, also known as the Indian Gooseberry, has been a central part of Ayurvedic medicine for thousands of years. Direct from India, our Amla Powder is USDA-certified organic, 100% natural and is the most concentrated form of vitamin C found in the plant kingdom. With an initially sour taste, our Amla Powder is best enjoyed when added to your yogurt or smoothie recipes.
Many of our customers mix Amla Powder in with water or juice, but because our Amla Powder doesn't contain any additives or carriers, it doesn't dissolve well in water. So, for best results we suggest mixing it with a smoothie or yogurt.
12 oz in resealable package.

Amla Powder - Mother Nature's Herb
Indian Gooseberry, the English name of the amla berry, gives away the native home of this rich source of natural vitamin C. Although botanically unrelated, it does visually resemble the gooseberry and that is how it got its English name.
Amla (Emblica Officinalis) is a much better source of natural vitamin C than synthetic vitamin C supplements. Although not as high in vitamin C content as our Acerola Cherry Powder, amla powder is packed with potent antioxidants with a high density of tannins and polyphenols. One such polyphenol is Ellagic acid, a phytochemical with antioxidant properties.
Amla berries are a rich source of
- Vitamin C
- Vitamin A
- B Complex Vitamins
- Calcium
- Phosphorus
In India, practitioners' of Ayurvedic medicine often refer to the amla berry as "Mother Nature" due to the multitude of medicinal benefits they believe it possesses; it has a long history of being used as an antidote against the effects of aging and age related maladies. It was traditionally used by Ayurvedic practitioners to treat digestive disorders such as acidity, dysentery, diarrhea and constipation; to lower blood pressure and cholesterol levels, improve liver function and even as a hair and skin tonic.
According to traditional Ayurvedic principles, Amla fruit is sour and astringent in flavor, with sweet, bitter and pungent secondary tastes. Amla's qualities are light and dry, its post-digestive effect is sweet, and its energy is cooling. According to Ayurveda, amla balances all 3 doshas.
Traditional uses of Amla Berry as a medicinal tonic include:
- Support for digestive system
- Rejuvenate longevity
- Treat constipation
- Reduce Fever
- Purify the blood
- Reduce cough
- Asthma
- Strengthen the heart
- Benefit the eyes
- Stimulate hair growth
- Enliven the body
- Enhance intellect
No wonder the Amla berry is one of the most often used herbs in Ayurveda! Its reputation as a powerful rejuvenating herb may be attributed to its naturally high levels of vitamin C.
