Reishi Mushroom Tea

If you're new to using reishi mushroom, making a tea is a great way to start while reaping the benefits of this medicinal mushroom.

Reishi has been used for thousands of years in Ancient Chinese Medicine. One of the many health benefits of reishi come from water-soluble polysaccharides known as beta-glucans. It also contains more than 119 different triterpene compounds, which are very supportive of the immune system

The Process:

Pretty simple.

Add ¼ to 1 teaspoon of powdered reishi to water and bring to a simmer.

Pour into your favorite mug to drink hot, or chill over ice to drink cold. Enjoy!

Reishi mushroom is naturally bitter and earthy tasting, but you can do many things to improve the flavor. I like to add a little honey and ginger, and some people prefer to add other teas like green tea or matcha.

As with most herbs, start slowly – 4 to 8 oz. of tea. If the tea doesn’t cause any stomach troubles, you can increase the amount of tea you drink daily. If you use aspirin or similar blood-thinning drugs, you may want to skip reishi tea all together, as if may increase bleeding time.

The tea will keep for a few days in the refrigerator, so feel free to make a few batches at a time.
