Baobab Superfruit Powder + A Bowl Recipe

The baobab tree is an amazing, resilient survivor. Despite its native environment being the very hot, dry savannas of Africa, a single tree may live for 500 years or more, and its size dominates the barren landscape. The trunk rises 90 feet or more and has a diameter as large as 60 feet.

Called “the tree of life,” it not only outlives environmental challenges, but also helps support humans in its vicinity. The massive trunk can provide protection, and the leaves, bark, seeds, and the fruit have a long tradition of being used as food and medicine.

Our Baobab Fruit Powder Source: Helping The Planet

Not only does baobab fruit powder taste good -- similar to a sweet tart -- our Live Superfoods baobab fruit powder is harvested in Benin, Africa via a partnership with the locals. Win-Win! The money the women earn through the fair partnership provides their families with better access to health care, better nutrition and puts more girls and boys in school.

The baobab fruit grow in pods and dries naturally while still hanging from the tree. The pods are traditionally harvested by the families of the grower. The whole fruits are bought directly from those families, and are then processed by a fair partnership women’s co-op. These women apply age-old indigenous methods of transformation in a controlled, clean facility to produce this fine, nutritious, delicious and versatile powder.

Baobab's Nutrition Benefits
