Who is Weston A. Price?
Dr. Weston A. Price is an American dentist. In the 1930s, he traveled to isolated parts of the globe to study the health of populations untouched by Western civilization. While searching for factors responsible for good dental health in these isolated cultures, he found that overall physical degeneration occurs when we leave behind traditional diets for the Standard American Diet (SAD).
Weston A. Price's Discoveries
When Dr. Price analyzed the foods used by people living in isolated cultures, he found that compared to the American diet of his day, their diet provided at least four times more water-soluble vitamins, calcium and other minerals, and at least TEN times more fat-soluble vitamins, from animal foods such as butter, fish eggs, shellfish, organ meats, eggs and animal fats. Ironically. the very cholesterol-rich foods now shunned by the American public as unhealthy.
These healthy traditional people knew instinctively what scientists of Dr. Price's day had recently discovered -- that the fat-soluble vitamins A and D were vital to health because they acted as catalysts to mineral absorption and protein utilization. Without them, we cannot absorb minerals, no matter how abundant they may be in our food.
Weston A. Price Discovers Activator X (Vitamin K2)
Dr. Price discovered an additional fat-soluble nutrient, which he labeled Activator X. He found it located in fish livers, shellfish, and organ meats and butter from cows eating rapidly growing green grass in the Spring and Fall. He realize ALL primitive groups had a source of Activator X in their diet, now thought to be vitamin K2.
Dr. Price's findings are still relevant today, and he has inspired many people to return to a "traditional" method of eating for better health.
