When you go to the supermarket, it's not always easy to know where your food comes from - but not with MegaFood. Their products come directly from four farms they know and trust. When you see that label, you know you're getting something that was made with care and love, and only the finest organic ingredients.
Uncle Matt's Farm
Uncle Matt’s Organic is the nation’s original organic juice company, and it’s where MegaFood gets all the oranges for their Vitamin C. The oranges from this fourth-generation, family-owned business are in-season, freshly harvested, 100% organic Navel and Hamlin oranges.
Uncle Matt’s Organic grows their oranges free of synthetic pesticides, herbicides and fertilizers, and advocates stewardship of the soil as a means of producing the healthiest, most nutritious, organic crops possible.
The real-life uncle to ten nieces and nephews, Matt McLean ventured into the organic juice business in 1999 with a passion for healthy living as well as a long family history of growing citrus in Florida. Matt’s goal was, and still is, to produce the highest quality juice, using only premium, 100% organically-grown fruit that is free from synthetic fertilizers and pesticides.
Uncle Matt’s philosophy is based on building healthy soils that will yield a healthier tree so it can naturally defend itself against disease. The single factor analysis of today’s Ag world reacts to pests with pesticides, but Uncle Matt’s takes pride in protecting the next generation, believing that less contamination means a safer planet for everyone.
Complex C, Ultra-C 400, and Daily-C Protect come from oranges grown at Uncle Matt's Farm.
Stahlbush Island
Located in the heart of Oregon’s lush Willamette Valley, Stahlbush Island Farms is an environmentally friendly farm and food processor committed to sustainable agriculture and exceptional quality. Stahlbush, which is non-GMO and has been family-owned since 1985, is where MegaFood gets all their farm-fresh beets.
Back in 1985, newlyweds Karla and Bill Chambers bought a farm on Stahlbush Island and planted two crops, pumpkin and sugar beets, for seed. Four years later, they began construction of an on-farm processing plant to freeze and puree produce within hours of harvest. In 1997, Stahlbush became the first farm ever to be certified sustainable by the Food Alliance. With this, the first sustainably grown, individually quick-frozen fruits and vegetables hit the market under the Stahlbush Island Farms brand in kraft paper packaging. They soon developed the Farmer’s Market line of canned, organic gourmet purees and Nummy Tum Tum pet food supplements.
In 2009, Bill and Karla completed construction on the first biogas of its kind in North America, which turns all of their agricultural byproduct (such as corn husks, silage, etc.) into electricity. The biogas plant reached record electricity output at 33,673 KwH in 2011. Today, this plant annually produces twice the energy needed to power the farm.
Stahlbush Island Farms continues to add to their long list of trailblazing sustainable accomplishments. In 2010, they released the first 100% biodegradable packaging in the freezer section and launched a line of pre-cooked grains and legumes for the freezer aisle. In 2011, BPA-Free Liners were added to the Farmer’s Market Line. In addition to their commitment to sustainability, Stahlbush Island Farms donates over 1 million servings to local food banks every year. In 2012, Food Engineering Magazine named them Sustainable Plant of the Year, and in 2014, Fortune Magazine named Karla as one of the Most Innovative Women in Food & Drink.

James Lake Farms
James Lake Farms is an organic cranberry marsh located in beautiful northern Wisconsin, just south of the Jewel of the Nicolet: Three Lakes. In 2006, John Stauner and his wife Nora purchased the marsh from their former employer, Northland Cranberries, Inc. They now grow 64 acres of certified organic cranberries with five different fruit varieties. The James Lake Farms team includes manager Tom Drozd, assistant manager Ben Riker (John and Nora’s oldest son) and marsh worker Sam Brown. The James Lake Farms team is also assisted by an excellent group of seasonal workers who help make their organic operation a success.
The marsh was originally started in 1950, and several of their beds date from this time. The property has gone through seven owners since, and has had a deep history of innovation. The goal of James Lake Farms is to continue this rich tradition by adopting organic growing methods.
During the harvest season, which is typically in October, James Lake Farms sells fresh cranberries and offers harvest tours. They are very proud to grow and sell organically certified cranberries, and are always happy to welcome visitors to the farm to tour the marshes. MegaFood is happy to partner with James Lake Farms and source our antioxidant-rich cranberries from this family-owned and operated organic Wisconsin farm.
Cranberries from James Lake Farms is used to make MegaFood's Pure Cranberry.
Kauai Organic Farms
Located on the North Shore of the island of Kauai, Kauai Organic Farms is a family owned and managed turmeric and ginger farm. Phil and Linda Green are the husband and wife team who own and manage the farm – and are the lucky couple who get to watch amazing sunsets over their fields at the end of each day. The Green’s share in the MegaFood mission of sustainable farming and pursuing your passion.
Phil and Linda Green have owned Kauai Organic Farms for the last 10 years. Originally from Michigan, they met in college and have been married for over 30 years. After moving to North Carolina in 1979, they began visiting Kauai regularly and always knew it held a special place in their heart. After Phil retired from over twenty years of reforestation work in North Carolina, Phil and Linda decided to pursue their dream of owning a farm in Hawaii.
In 2004 they packed up and moved to Kauai. With little knowledge of growing ginger they took a risk and purchased an established farm growing four acres of ginger. Slowly they expanded and added turmeric and galangal to their product offerings.
Kauai Organic Farms provides the turmeric in Turmeric Strength for Liver, Turmeric Strength for Joint, and Turmeric Strength for Whole Body.
