Combine all-natural peanut butter with raw virgin coconut oil and what do you get? A velvety vegan spread that's delicious on toast, fabulous as a dip for fresh fruit, heavenly right off the spoon - the possibilities are endless.
Peanut butter is a crowd favorite. It's great by itself, on the famous PB & J and in all sorts of recipes - and offers multitude of health benefits to boot. Peanut butter contains heart-healthy monounsaturated fats, which may have a positive effect on health when consumed in moderation. It's packed with protein, fiber, vitamins and minerals like vitamin E, magnesium, potassium and vitamin B6. When choosing a peanut butter, look for a product with little to no added fat or sugar; some companies add artificial sweeteners and hydrogenated oils (which may bring unhealthy trans fats into the mix). Simple is best!
Coconut oil is in a class of its own - this light, fresh oil is high in lauric acid, which is antimicrobial, antibacterial, antiparasitical and antiviral. Almost two-thirds of its saturated fat content is composed of health-promoting medium-chain fatty acids, which are easily digested for quick energy and beneficial to the immune system. When purchasing coconut oil, a raw, organic virgin product is best. Raw virgin coconut oil is derived from fresh coconuts in a process free from heat and chemicals, ensuring all of the vital properties remain intact.
