Teeny little hemp seeds (or hearts, if you prefer) are full of protein, essential fatty acids and essential nutrients. Creamy and delicious, they can be found hidden beneath the hard outer shell of the hemp seed.
This twist on hummus is super-nutritious, with just a handful of real-food ingredients. Have some fun by adding some olive tapenade on top, roasted red peppers or a drizzle of white truffle flavored olive oil.
Hemp Seed Hearts Hummus
Ingredients
- 4 Tbsp hemp hearts
- 4 tsp lemon juice
- 3 cups cooked (or canned) chickpeas
- 2 Tbsp water
- 2 small garlic cloves
- 6 Tbsp olive oil
- 1 tsp Himalayan salt
Instructions
- Grind hemp seeds in coffee grinder (or spice grinder). Put them into food processor with lemon juice, chickpeas, water, garlic, olive oil and salt.
- Blend for about 1 minute or until smooth. If you want thinner hummus, add a little bit more water.
