DIY Amla Berry & Honey Gentle Face Mask Recipe

Ready for some me-time? Pamper yourself with this soothing face mask made from three simple ingredients.

1. Honey

Honey is antibacterial and anti-inflammatory in nature, promotes wound healing and has humectant properties (it attracts and retains moisture in the skin). Active Manuka honey from New Zealand is particularly beneficial, as its NPA (non-peroxide activity) rating increases its therapeutic benefits.

2. Amla Berry Powder

Popular in Ayurvedic medicine, antioxidant-rich amla powder (dried Indian gooseberry fruit) is high in vitamins A and C, and has antibacterial and exfoliating properties.

3. Cinnamon and/or Vanilla

Beyond its amazing smell, cinnamon has natural antimicrobial and anti-inflammatory activity (great for acne-prone skin). Antioxidant-rich vanilla protects the skin from mischievous free radicals, and pairs wonderfully with the warm fragrance of cinnamon. Cinnamon and vanilla powder both act as mild exfoliants, so you can wet the mask and do a gentle scrub before rinsing if you wish.

How to Make the Mask:

1. Add warm water to 2 teaspoons of amla powder until it has a yogurt-like consistency.

2. Add a teaspoon of raw honey (manuka is ideal) and blend.

3. Add 1/8 teaspoon of cinnamon and/or vanilla bean powder (or to desired texture).

4. Apply gently to the face with fingertips.

5. Enjoy a little me-time for 15-30 minutes, dampen mask & exfoliate (if desired) then rinse with cool water.

The best way to test heavy metals.
